Are you confronted with consent when your vegan lifestyle is not understood and not accepted by other family members and relatives? They worry about your health and the fuzzy food you are eating. Are you faced with a different situation when after a while, seeing that you are all right and even better than it was, those family members start getting involved in your “game” and surprise you by epic vegetable and fruit dishes! It happened to me too – my mother-in-law has prepared an incredibly delicious, light and so simple salad that I could jump on the spot for joy all day!
This simple but unusual salad consists of just three ingredients: apple, garlic and avocado.
Jump to the recipe
This salad may become a Number 1 salad for the autumn period because autumn is rich with apples, and garlic protects against colds and increases the overall body’s resistance. Great!
You can actually make this salad even without directions just by knowing the short ingredient list, right? But, anyway, I would like to stress a few points.
About the ingredients
Apple
Apple is a fruit and fruits is quickly digested food. Thus, if you ate harder and slowly digestible food (such as meat or legumes) before the fruit, then gas accumulation in the intestine is guaranteed. Solution? Eat a salad with fruit as a good fresh snack before the main course or separately from other dishes. An apple will then be quickly digested and will not cause a “traffic jam” in the gut.
Garlic
We have already talked about garlic in our article “Mister Garlic”
We have also prepared an epic vegan/vegetarian appetizer “Miss Plum with Mr Garlic”
Some people are sensitive to fresh, not cooked garlic, especially on the empty stomach. Consume it wisely and moderately, just 1-2 cloves, not more. Avoid eating fresh garlic when pregnant and breastfeeding. Minimize or exclude garlic consumption for children, people suffering from a bleeding disorder, gastritis, diabetes, and low blood pressure. Be aware that garlic bioactive compounds may interact with some drugs (that is why diabetic conditions and heart diseases are mentioned above).
And in the case of harmonious relationships between the couple – eat garlic together at the same time, or do not eat at all. The smell of garlic (as well as onion) from another person’s mouth is poorly tolerated by the person who did not consume it at the same time and can ruin the mood by leaving an unpleasant sensory feeling.
One story from “The Thousand and One Nights” tells us that a rich bride ordered to cut off the fingers of her unlucky groom just because he had eaten dishes with garlic during the wedding feast! The smell of garlic in your mouth seems awful and repulsive to your chosen one at the moment of intimacy, unless you eat garlic together. It may be interpreted as a sign of disrespect.
Paradoxically, some experts believe that garlic is a very powerful aphrodisiac. Garlic contains allicin, a compound that increases blood flow to the genitals.
Ayurveda recognizes garlic (and onions) as blood purifiers. However, it produces excessive heat in the body and in Ayurveda it is a rajsic food (disturbing sleep and draining energy). Ayurveda recommends to avoid garlic as it believed to distract a person’s focus and attention which are the basic elements for spirituality, meditation and yoga.
Pilots were not allowed to use garlic 72 hours before the flight, as the pilot’s reaction time decreases even three times after consuming garlic.
Conclusion – garlic should be consumed in moderation and only when needed as a medicine, or as an aphrodisiac if both accept it. Paradoxically, some people just cannot spend a day without garlic. Is it an eating habit or a sign that the blood is so contaminated that a whole body needs to be cleaned constantly?…
Avocado
Avocado contains vitamins and minerals, such as potassium, sodium, magnesium, vitamin A, vitamin E, vitamin K, vitamin B-6 and monounsaturated fatty acids (the “good fats” shown to lower “bad” cholesterol).
But just one avocado contains as much potassium as in two small bananas and overs almost 15 percent of the daily recommended potassium intake which is 4.7 g.
Funny fact, but avocado is the only fruit which is forbidden to consume for lovebirds, probably because of high amount of fats in it.

Mary Novalis (United States): Tasty recipes without sugar!
Dr. Alisa Palatronis has “cooked up” a very interesting cookbook! I am intrigued by the ingredient choices for some recipes and can’t wait to try them all! My palate is anticipating them all. I did try a few right away since I had the ingredients on hand. The Mascadates from Bożena and Almonds in Heaven were very tasty! I also tried the Hello Hasselback Potato too, they were delicious!! My next recipe will be Delights from 1001 Nights for a sweet treat since I love chickpeas.
This cookbook is one of a kind and I look forward to trying all the recipes and passing it along to my vegan friends and non vegan friends alike. Thank you Dr. Palatronis for this special treat, you have a way with enticing ones palate with your pictures and ingredients combinations.
