Living in the world of birds is not an idyll. They fight for food with each other and need to prove the alfa position constantly. A sick bird would sit on a brunch till the last moment it could, without external signs of ailment, because others would chop it once would notice someone weaker.
Knowing this from a personal observations and literature, it is though highly pleasant to see the friendly moment.
