What are you thinking about when listening to the lyrics of the song “Loosing my religion” by R.E.M? He is loosing his religion, right? Well, the song would sound way primitive in the context of the poetic approach.
In fact, the band’s leader, being an admirer of Buddhism, created a kind of aphorism which was largely misunderstood (1).
“Losing my religion” is actually an old southern expression for being at the end of one’s rope, and the moment when politeness gives way to anger (1). You get it now, right?
