Two sweet potato tubers have decided to continue growth
One more day of excitement, because two sweet potato tubers have decided to continue growth. In the previous post, on May 4, 2020, I have messaged that the first tiny root buds were visible on two tubers. Today, I am happy to tell you, rebirth of the sweet potato is continued!
Up to now, the tubers of two sweet potatoes are already 60 days in water on the windowsill !

Seems like a fairy underwater kingdom, isn’t it?:)
Starting from May 4th, when I noticed first roots, I was making visual observations time to time, looking for the changes.
I continue to REALLY left them feel free and calm and do not look after it. No tuning of a jar here and there, no touching the tubers – respect their space!
What have changed since May 4:
- White spots appeared here and there and covered mostly half of the tuber surface
- Root system improved, instead of one white thin root – many new roots have appeared, most of them come from the main long primal root
- sprouts with leaves are coming both in the areas covered with water, and those with an air contact
- Sprouts in water are green and lightly purple, while those with air contact are dark purple
- Sprouts are coming in any place but all of them take place from white spots
- There are two tubers: one has already shown sprouts and improved root system, while another has only improved root system – no sprout are visible yet.
About water for the growth
- I noticed, after 1 month from the beginning, water was needed to change: I change it very gently, just poured out some water and refilled with a fresh portion slowly, letting water to run along the jar walls. P.S. Water in the jars covers 3/4 of the tubers size
- Within the period May 4 – June 14, I have changed water three times only
In the first post about sweet potato rebirth it was described:
- How the first thready root of sweet potato came out
- Water for soaking the tubes
- Appropriate attitude to the plants while they are in “dreaming” condition

And I would repeat here again: “Do nothing, just let them stay alone, in peace and comfort, without any kind of “showing love and care”

Lets see how they would feel later!:)
