Overture
Many of us would feel joyfully for sure if knowing that a kind of health-beneficial breakfast could start with a desert. That is as we do!
One of the food product, enhancing bowel movements and reducing constipation is flax seed. Especially during (post)-pandemic time, which was intertwined with even higher lack of mobility for entire human race on the Planet than normally (according “normally” of XXI century). Constipation is a right way to clog a system (a body), producing numerous unhealthy conditions. One should realize, that his/her constipation is his/her own business, however, related to his/her own health.
– What are you talking about? How I would eat those flax seeds? Are they tasty, or are they eatable at all???
-And yes, and no. Any time it is important to know how to prepare food, any kind of food, unless it is just an apple. But even with an apple there would be probably few tech-tips from me how to prepare and eat it properly:)
So, back to flax seed, here is the recipe of Gummy sweet breakfast:
Recipe
TWO VERSIONS:
1) for warm days to refresh a body (with fresh berries)
2) for cold days to warm a body (with banana and dried berries)
Before you start:
Passive time | Active time | Equipment needed | Servings |
2-8 hours | 10 min | coffee mill whisk | 2 |
PASSIVE TIME is time before, during or after food preparation when nothing should be done, just waiting | soaking, sprouting, cooling down, freezing |
ACTIVE TIME is factual time spent in a kitchen for preparation | cutting, washing, boiling, crashing, mixing |
EQUIPMENT NEEDED | specific kitchen equipment, if not counting regular tools like pots, spoons or knifes |
Ingredients:

Flax seeds | 6 Tbsp |
Cinnamon powder | 1 Tbsp |
Rosehip powder (optional) | 1 Tbsp |
Ashwagandha powder (optional) | 1 tsp |
Water, purified | 1.5 cup (or 240 ml) |
Date syrup (non-sugary) | 4-6 Tbsp |
Blueberries, strawberries fresh / or | 0.5 cup |
or mix of banana, dried mulberries and Goji berries | 1 banana, handful of berries |
Tbsp | table spoon |
tsp | tea spoon |
cup | US measuring cup, equal to 240 ml of water |
How to make it:
- Mill flax seeds in coffee mill
- In a cup, combine all powdered ingredients by using a whisk: milled flax seeds, cinnamon, rosehip powder and ashwagandha
- Add 1 cup (240 ml) of water and stir well by using a same whisk
- Let a mixture stay on a counter for at least 2 hours or overnight
- After 4 hours or next morning, add date syrup and remaining amount of water – 0.5 cup (120 ml) and stir well

Important to know:
- If adding dry berries to a flax seed mixture (mulberry, Goji), then wait 5-10 minutes, berries will soften a little bit
- Optional additives: rosehip and ashwagandha
- rosehip is a great source of vitamin C
- ashwagandha is an adaptogen. It reduces blood sugar level, helps body to manage stress because reduces cortisol level, boosts brain function, increases muscle mass and strength, may reduce inflammation, contributes to fertility (1)
- This is not some kind of junky dessert which could be eaten after lunch or with coffee during a day. This is a separate breakfast meal
- Any kind of super food (ashwagandha), even if it is super super natural and beneficial for health, should not be taken for a long time on a daily basis. Good way is to change one to another. For example, when a package of ashwagandha is finished – change it to maca powder
- In general, if using daily, any super food should be changed to another every 1-2 months. And the break for it should be the same length as it was for consuming time. Example for the particular super food: 1 month on a daily basis – 1 month break – 1 month later on a daily basis. But always remember to listen to your body, maybe you will not need the same particular super food a month later – no need to force yourself, the body knows better!
- Use only freshly grounded flax seeds, because powdered flax seeds in packages loose their nutritional value and in some way are even not beneficial to health – fatty acids in flax seeds undergo oxidative stress very quickly. Imagine, a package of already powdered flax seeds was produced few months (a year?) before and is still waiting for a consumer on a shelf
- 2-3 Tbsp of flax seeds is a daily dose for an adult. That would be a mistake to think “as more as better” because such a rule is never working in any situation
- One should ensure sufficient amount of water intake during a day if Gummy desert was consumed during a breakfast
- Gummy desert with flax seeds is one of a right food to ‘break” a “fast”
